Summer Appeal - Help Her Bloom: Bring Hope and Healing This Summer
From Fear to Freedom: Why Your Support Matters This Summer
As the sun-filled days of summer begin, we at YWCA North Central Indiana are filled with deep gratitude—for the season, for our community, and most of all, for you.
Because of your compassion and generosity, women and children fleeing domestic violence have a safe place to turn. Thanks to your support, the YWCA remains a refuge—a place where healing begins, hope is restored, and lives are rebuilt.
More Than Shelter —A Lifeline
The work we do turns victims into survivors. It replaces fear with possibility. And it opens the door to a future free from violence. At the YWCA, we don’t just provide shelter—we provide wraparound services that are essential to long-term stability:
Trauma-informed counseling
Case management
Job readiness training
Financial education
These tools empower women to not just escape abuse—but to thrive far beyond it.
Meet Amy: A Survivor’s Story
Amy is one of the many courageous women who found her turning point at the YWCA. Her journey reminds us why this work is so urgent and so life-changing:
“Just a few years ago, mine was a story filled with pain, abuse, and hopelessness—not just for me, but for my beautiful children... I stayed, trying to keep the peace, until the night he choked me during a minor argument. That night was my breaking point.
My children and I found safety and so much more at the YWCA. The staff was kind and supportive—they believed in me until I could believe in myself. For the first time in years, I could sleep at night knowing my kids and I were safe.
Through counseling and case management, I started healing. I got a job. We moved into our own home. The YWCA even helped cover our rent and utilities until I could stand on my own.
Today, my daughters are thriving. I’m completing my associate's degree and planning to pursue a bachelor’s in addictions counseling. We used to depend on the kindness of strangers to survive—now, we’re able to give back. And it feels so good.”
Be Part of the Change
Amy’s story—from fear to freedom—is only possible because of people like you. Your generosity makes these transformations possible, every single day.
This summer, we invite you to help us continue this life-saving, life-giving work. Whether you give a one-time gift or become a monthly donor, you are helping change the course of someone’s life.
Our friends at Century Chemical Corporation in Elkhart have generously pledged to match, dollar for dollar, the first $10,000 in contributions! That means your donation will be doubled, helping us reach even more women and children in crisis.
We are deeply grateful to CEO Denyse Pontius and her entire team for their compassion and commitment, and to you, for standing with us.
