Julie’s Story:
“My addiction almost killed me. Thank God I found help at the YWCA.”
“I knew I was defeated. My addiction to drugs and alcohol had brought me to my knees. After 20 long years of drug use I was tired…physically and emotionally. It took everything I had to walk through the doors of the YWCA. All I knew at that moment is that I did not want to use drugs of any kind anymore. My habit had made me do terrible things including selling myself just so I could get a little money for drugs. I feel so ashamed about that.
Since my arrival here I have successfully completed the chemical dependency program with the help of my case manager and my support group. The program has provided me with the tools I need to stay clean. I’ve learned so much about me. Today I attend 12 step meetings, I have a sponsor and I have a God of my own understanding who helps me with my recovery. The staff is very good at what they do and they have helped me. I must admit it has not been easy learning how to live clean but God has given me another chance at life through the YWCA I plan to live it clean.”
