Building Connections That Last: Inside the Getting Ahead Networking Group
At YWCA North Central Indiana, success isn’t defined by completing a program—it’s defined by what happens next.
For graduates of the Getting Ahead program, the journey toward stability, confidence, and long-term success continues through the Getting Ahead Networking Group—a monthly gathering designed to keep momentum strong and opportunities growing.
A Community That Keeps You Moving Forward
The Getting Ahead program helps participants build a path out of crisis by developing goals, strengthening resources, and creating a vision for the future. But lasting change doesn’t happen in isolation.
That’s where the Networking Group comes in.
Meeting once a month, this group provides a consistent space for graduates to reconnect, learn, and grow together. It’s a supportive environment where relationships deepen, challenges are shared, and progress is celebrated. Participants continue building the tools and confidence they need—not just to move forward, but to stay there.
Turning Connections Into Opportunity
Each session is centered around meaningful topics that strengthen both personal and professional growth. At a recent meeting held at Ivy Tech South Bend, the group explored “Building Social Capital”—a powerful concept focused on how relationships, trust, and community connections open doors to new opportunities.
With guidance from guest speaker Marla Godette of Mentoring Moments, LLC, attendees engaged in thoughtful discussion about the role connections play in achieving long-term stability. These conversations go beyond theory—they equip participants with real strategies to expand their networks and access new possibilities.
Part of a Bigger Mission
The Getting Ahead Networking Group is part of YWCA North Central Indiana’s broader commitment to empowering women and families through its Self-Sufficiency Program.
This program focuses on economic advancement, offering education in financial literacy, goal setting, budgeting, and career development—all at no cost to participants.
By combining these practical tools with ongoing support systems like the Networking Group, YWCA ensures that participants don’t just overcome immediate challenges—they build sustainable, long-term stability.
This work is also strengthened through initiatives that provide education, workforce training, and individualized support to help individuals move from crisis to self-sufficiency.
Stronger Together
What makes the Getting Ahead Networking Group truly special is its sense of community. It’s a space where people feel seen, supported, and inspired by others walking a similar path.
Here, success is shared. Growth is encouraged. And no one moves forward alone.
Join the Next Meeting
