YWCA North Central Indiana offers safe, affordable, low-income housing for women and their children at the YWCA shelters in St. Joseph and Elkhart counties.
The YWCA’s Transitional Housing program provides women with housing, support and services for up to 24 months while they establish self sufficiency and locate permanent housing. During that time, they are assisted with transportation, counseling, child care, case management, employment counseling, and economic empowerment programming and additional assistance.
Housing units are available for mothers with children and single women. Rent is set at a percentage of the client’s income and includes utilities.
The YWCA’s Permanent Housing program provides housing and support services to single women without children who have special needs due to developmental delays, chronic mental health issues, and/or physical handicaps. This program provides services to women who need minimal assistance to live independently.
